SILVIA VASQUEZ-LAVADO
Silvia Vasquez-Lavado is a humanitarian, mountaineer, explorer, Silicon Valley technologist, and founder of Courageous Girls, a nonprofit helping survivors of sexual abuse and trafficking to find inner strength and cultivate their voices. In 2018, she became the first openly gay woman to complete the Seven Summits. Her memoir, In the Shadow of the Mountain, follows her journey to the summit of Mount Everest and through her own trauma to find healing relationships, community, and self-acceptance. She’s been named a Corporate Hero by Fortune, one of the 20 Most Influential Latinos in Silicon Valley by CNET, and by the Peruvian government as one of the “Marca Peru” ambassadors. CURTIS COOK
Curtis Cook is a standup comedian and WGA Award-nominated writer who puked after a keg stand on a show called Flophouse, traveled through an Ebola checkpoint for a segment on Vice News, and has appeared alongside Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein on Portlandia. Curtis’s standup has been seen on Comedy Central, where he was also a writer for the recent reboot of Crank Yankers before being hired onto shows at Hulu and TBS. DESSA
Dessa is a singer, rapper, writer, and speaker who has made a career of bucking genres and defying expectations. Her résumé as a musician includes performances at Lollapalooza and Glastonbury, co-compositions for 100-voice choirs, and recordings with the Minnesota Orchestra. Her track “Congratulations,” part of the #1 album The Hamilton Mixtape, has over 16 million streams. In 2021, she released two EPs: Ides and I Already Like You. She is the author of My Own Devices, a 2018 memoir-in-essays, and an in-demand public speaker on such topics as art, science, and entrepreneurship.
